How can I read an ebook from the UTSA catalog on my iPad, Android device, or e-Reader?

Answer

Apple or Android Device

You may use your Apple or Android device to read our e-books online via the UTSA Libraries website.

For offline use, if chapters in an e-book are available as PDFs, they may be downloaded to your device in iBooks,  BlueFire Reader, or a variety of PDF-reader apps.

For some of our databases, you will be prompted to install the free BlueFire Reader app, available in the App store or Google Play. These e-books are downloaded only for a limited period of time, but may be downloaded again after expiration.

The BlueFire Reader app is third-party software and is not fully integrated with the UTSA Libraries website.  You are able to read downloaded UTSA e-books, but can’t create reading lists or access UTSA databases in the BlueFire Reader app.

Nook or Kindle

Many of our e-book collections offer each book chapter as a PDF file, which can be downloaded to your Nook or Kindle. However, they are not formatted to the device's screen size. San Antonio Public Library has Kindle-formatted e-books available through their Overdrive service and Bexar County's Bibliotech has apps for both Kindle and Nook.
