What is the policy on allowing guns in the library?

Answer

Exclusion areas of the John Peace Library are the Food Court, and Special Collections. The Institute of Texan Cultures (ITC) has also been declared an exclusionary zone. The Downtown and AET libraries do not have exclusion zones.

Further, areas of the library become temporary exclusion zones when:

  • Alcohol is being served under a TABC license (Faculty Center, John Peace Library 4th Floor)
  • Engagement activities involving minors are taking place (all library locations)
